Frequently Asked Questions
1.       What is the initial consultation?

The consultation or "meet and greet" allow you to meet us and for us to meet you and your pets.  You can ask us questions.  We generally determine the appropriate services for you and your pets, discuss feeding and exercise routines, fill out paperwork and collect house keys.

 

2.       I have more than 1 pet.  Will I have to pay for each pet?

Animal Lovers Pet Care charges for the  amount of time that it takes to get everything done.  Clients with several pets may require more than the 30 min visit.  This will be discussed at the initial consultation. 

 

3.       What is included in your visits?

All of our pet sitting  and dog walking visits include food, fresh water, interaction and home amenities.   During the initial consultation,  we can discuss customizing visits to suit your needs.  Please see our Services and Rates page for more information

 

4.       Does Animal Lovers Pet Care board pets?

No, ALPC does not board animals.  We specialize in home pet sitting and dog walking. 

 

5.       Do you have experience giving medications to pets? 

Yes, we do have experience administering medications.  There is no additional charge.

 

6.       My cat likes to go outside.  Will you let my cat outside?

We will let the cat outside if the cat may stay outside.  We will not the cat out if you want the cat to come back in at the end of the visit.  There is no guarantee that the cat will come in at the end of the visit.  IF you wish, we can let the cat outside and leave the cat outside.  We recommend if the cat is inside when we arrive for the visit, the cat stays inside.

 

7.       What animals do you provide care for?

We provide care for dogs, cats, rabbits, and fish.  We do not provide care for farm animals.

 

 

8.       Do you care for all breeds and ages? 

Puppies and older pets may need special care.  All breeds have unique personality traits.   During the consultation, we will spend time with your pets  to get to know them, and discuss their needs and your special concerns.  This is allows both you and us to determine if we are a good match.

 

9.     My pet has never bitten anyone, but seems to be a little aggressive?  Can we use

          your service?

During the consultation, we will spend time your pets to get to know them, for them to get to know us , and discuss their needs.   At this time, we can determine if we are a good match.  We can also decide that we may need to schedule some "get to know you" visits to ensure that the pet is comfortable with us.  We request that you be present at the "get to know you" visit.   There may be a fee for the additional visits. 

PLEASE NOTE - Safety of everyone involved - pets and people is our number one concern.   We reserve the right to cancel an service that may put safety in jeopardy.

 

 10.   My dog likes to walk off leash.   Will you walk my dog off leash?

For safety  reasons we will not walk dogs off leash.  

 

 11.   Do you require that pets be vaccinated?

The law requires that you have your pets vaccinated for Rabies and have current proof of vaccination.  We only require Rabies vaccination for pet sitting service.

 

 12.   Who will be taking care of my pets?

One of the owners, Melissa or Dale will be your pet sitter or dog walker.

 

 13.    Do you charge extra for the Holidays?

There is an additional $15 per day fee.  This is not per visit.  For example:  You have scheduled 3 visits at $17 each.   Fee will 17x3+15 = $66.  Holidays are New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

 

 14.   What do you do with my house key?

All keys are coded and kept in lockbox except during visits when they are in the hands of the pet sitter.

 

 15.   Do you have emergency plan in case of illness or inclement weather?

Yes, we have contacts with back up  pet sitters in case of true emergency.   If the case of inclement weather, we are only a few miles from your home and we drive 4wheel drive vehicles so we will be able to accommodate your sits as planned.

 

 16.   What will you do if my pet requires emergency veterinary attention?

At the "meet and greet" a Vet Authorization form will be completed which details your vet care information.   A copy of this should be given to your vet in case of emergency.   Prior to any medical treatment , you will be contacted.  If you can not be reached, the Vet Authorization form instructs us on how to proceed with your vet.

 

17. What is your service area?

           Animal Lovers Pet Care services Taylorsville, Fisherville and Finchville.

           Please call us even if you are outside our service area.  We may be able to

           provide service with a small mileage fee or refer you to a pet sitter or dog 

           walker in your are.     

 

18.     Do you offer Dog Obedience Training?

Melissa is currently enrolled at Animal Behavior College and will receive her certification early 2011.  Notices will be posted when training classes are offered.
